One of my favorite remixes of one of my songs is Flufftronix’s mix of “Feed Me To The Wolves” and it has been remastered and re-released by Fluffy himself. Download the remix for zero dollars HERE or click on the album cover below. Cool, huh?
From the Flufftronix Soundcloud page:
Recently I’ve been kind of rethinking my entire approach to making music, oddly enough around a quote from Cher, “If it doesn’t matter in five years, it doesn’t matter.” Music is more disposable now than it’s ever been; trying to make music that transcends flavor of the month should really be a major concern if you want to last past a few internet cycles.
I’ve been at this production thing for some now, always learning A TON as I go (for reallllll to the point that it always feels like I learn better ways to do almost anything I was doing differently 6 months ago).. and really for the most part not thinking in terms of longevity. But I think I have occasionally succeeded at it, even if by accident sometimes—case in point this remix from the Summer of 2009. I find I do my best work when I have a solid melody and harmony to work around.. which is also one of the main things I’m trying to improve on learning how to do myself in 2013.
ANYHOO I’ve been doing some mixing and mastering work lately, and know way more about this stuff now than I did in 2009.. let alone 2012! I was never really happy with my shoddy DIY master on this track, so I took some time this past weekend to fix it up. I didn’t go back into the mix—I’m a budy dude and I know this would have sucked me in!—but I did do some much more appropriate compression and limiting. Thanks, hope yall dig! -Michael / Fluff
Exciting news! I’m going into the studio next week with Bill Wadhams, lead singer of Animotion, to re-record vocals for the Animotion remake of my song “Turn Me Out“. The track will be the flipside to my upcoming single “Do You Want Me Or Not?“, out September 25th. This new single is the 2nd pre-release from my new record, “Tramp Stamps and Birthmarks“, coming December 4th.
I’ve loved Animotion since I was a kid, so working with them on this is really special. Click on the picture below to go to their website and watch the video for their song “Obsession” below that!
It’s that time again! With the “Turn Me Out” music video approaching (and the full record following closely behind) Davey, Gino and I decided that it would be fun to have a good, old-fashioned remix contest. If you are a DJ, Band, Producer or Music Nerd and would like to have your work showcased on upcoming singles and used all over ye ole internets and in dance clubs promoting this new record we’ve been working on the past two years, here’s your chance!

All submissions must be received by Friday, August 10th (so you have a little over one month to make the magic happen). Please submit your track in hi-quality WAV or AIFF format to Logan@LoganLynnMusic.com. To download all the files and remixable audio stems you’ll need for said magic making, CLICK HERE (for the instruments and vocals) and also HERE (for the dry vocals). One of my favorite records of all time was made by Belgian one-man-band Styrofoam (aka Arne Van Petegem). I won’t tell you which one (because they are all good) and you should buy them all and then find your own favorites amongst them. I love every record this guy has ever put out but one of them changed my life (that’s a little over the top, actually…but you catch my drift.)
I realize this is a little bit creepy fanboy of me (ok, fine—it’s TOTALLY creepy fanboy of me) but he gave me a shout-out in this month’s issue of Mint Male Magazine that made me smile and I feel compelled to brag about it.
You can read the full interview with Arne HERE but pay close attention to question #4.
…and I quote:
“Mint Male Magazine: What are your favorite songs you’ve remixed?
Styrofoam: There are so many it would do the others injustice to pick out just a single one. One of my favorite recent ones is the Logan Lynn remix. I’d never heard his stuff before he got in touch with me and then I went and listened to it and I was just so blown away.”
HA! Uhhh… Are. You. Kidding. Me??? This is totally fucking amazeballz.
