Quarantine Shows: Oops!…I Did It Again LIVE From Home

‪Today is the 20th anniversary of Britney Spears “Oops!…I Did It Again” so I figured I should pay homage to one of the world’s most perfect songs.‬

‪Here’s the latest from my quarantine stage at home in the living room. Happy Saturday, everybody.‬ 💋

“My Movie Star” Has Been Out For Exactly Three Months…

We are 3 months into the My Movie Star release and it’s clear that people either completely love this weird, quiet piano record and are already mid-process wearing out the vinyl, or they fuckin’ hate it and either refuse to listen or just never made it past song 5 before breaking the vinyl over their knee.

There doesn’t seem to be much in-between this round, both critically and commercially, which I’m good with. Love me or hate me, feature the album or ignore it, these songs are my best work in 20 years, hands down.

I’m so proud of this record, all thanks to everyone who gave everything they had to this project; And to those of you who have bought the album and followed me here, I know we are a long way from those strange dance floors where we first met. The world has changed and so have I. Thank you for still being here. I see you dancing, sweethearts.

The My Movie Star Deluxe Double Disc Edition is out now on vinyl, CD and digital download wherever music is streamed and sold. Pick one up from Bandcamp and I’ll sign it for you, personalize it for a friend, or turn it into a unique piece of hatemail for someone you would like to simply torture with my voice

Paste Magazine Feature: Logan Lynn and Jay Mohr Collaborating with 80s Pop Icon Tiffany, The Dandy Warhols, Jarryd James and Others on New Album, “My Movie Star”

35510005

From Paste Magazine:

Portland, Oregon-based musician and producer Logan Lynn has recently completed work on a new record, titled My Movie Star, produced by actor/comedian Jay Mohr (Saturday Night Live, Jerry Maguire, Mohr Stories) and due out in 2018.

Today Lynn and Mohr announced that 80s pop icon Tiffany (“I Think We’re Alone Now”) has signed onto the project and will be collaborating with Lynn. The entire album is a collaboration with T-Pain muse GLASYS and features just Logan Lynn and a grand piano.

Breaking from his usual process, Logan wrote 19 new songs for My Movie Star by himself on the Steinway piano in his living room, then narrowed the tracklist down to 10 for the release. Unlike any of his previous work over the past 20 years, all of these tracks began with Lynn streaming his initial writing sessions live for his followers on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube from his loft in Portland, Oregon.
He then took those Steinway Sessions live recordings offline and sent countless clips to co-Producer Jay Mohr for feedback and direction. This back-and-forth process — which mainly consisted of Jay telling Logan to quiet down and pushing him to be braver and more exposed — went on for most of 2016 while Lynn was on the road promoting his last release, ADIEU

From there, Logan invited Portland-based piano genius (and T-Pain collaborator) GLASYS to come on board to build out the key parts and a few months later they locked themselves in The Hallowed Halls with Justin Phelps (Amanda PalmerDresden DollsDead Kennedys) and Mike Blackburn (The Wild WarScars on 45Dungen) until My Movie Star was complete. Lynn credits Jay Mohr, who is also a writer on 2 of the songs, for inspiring the album as a whole.

Logan Lynn and Jay Mohr are currently shopping the album to record labels, but My Movie Star will ultimately be released as a 2-disc set alongside an album of all the songs reimagined by The Dandy Warhols, Tiffany, Jarryd James, Rian Lewis, The Upsidedown, DoublePlusGood, Stose and many more of Logan’s favorite bands, artists and musical heroes. The release will be supported by a short film of the same name, 3 new music videos, as well as a double header tour with Logan Lynn alongside Jay Mohr and GLASYS in the works. “Logan Lynn Covers Miley Cyrus’ ‘We Can’t Stop’ (VIDEO)”

Portland-based openly gay musician Logan Lynn is known for his dance and electronic music, but lately his sound has taken a different direction with his latest single, “Everything You Touch Turns To Gold“.

Now he’s released a free download of his cover of Miley Cyrus’ hit single, “We Can’t Stop” that continues his foray into a bold new direction.

Lynn has been releasing music since 2000. He gained national recognition when his music and videos were played on Logo TV, and while he may be known for his electro-emo music, on his website, he speaks about his new sound and breaking away from the music for which he’s historically been known:

‘You may notice that this cover (and my latest single, released 8/13) are a bit of a departure from the electronics I’ve become synonymous with over the course of the past 15 years. These are just a glimpse into the new direction I’m headed in sonically. I have to keep changing things up or I get bored. This round I’ve put down the dance music a little and Gino has been playing all kinds of instruments instead. It’s been turning out really warm and special so far as a result. I figured this cold, dead pop song was the perfect thing to try and bring to life. Don’t get me wrong — I actually really like Miley’s version, too…but it’s not particularly warm.’

So if Cyrus’ song has grown a bit stale after hearing it played everywhere for the past few months, then check out Lynn’s version to get a “warmer,” different take on this mammoth hit.”
