The Portland Mercury Picks “Tramp Stamps and Birthmarks” for Video Vriday! Weekly Wrap-Up

Logan Lynn on Video Vriday at The Portland Mercury (2013)

Hometown love today from The Portland Mercury, who included my new video “Tramp Stamps and Birthmarks” in this week’s “Video Vriday!” weekly wrap-up! Check it out HERE or keep reading below the video:

From The Portland Mercury: (11/1/2013)

Logan Lynn released his new Halloween-y video this week; ‘Tramps Stamps and Birthmarks’ is a mysterious psychosexual clip made by Hippodrome Films. Lynn recorded the dark-tinged dance track with Spencer Lee Carroll (LackLustre), and Lynn says, “The horror of the video is meant to be a metaphor for the horrors of being trapped in our individual histories.”

From “The Huffington Post”: (10/31/2013)

“Logan Lynn is Back With a Spooky New Electropop Single”

Openly gay singer Logan Lynn is back with the fourth and final single from his new album “Tramp Stamps And Birthmarks.”

The electropopper’s latest single, the title track off the album, precedes a planned 12-month in-studio stint in which he will already begin work on his next album.

“The song is about power, control, and the people ‘in charge’ who call the shots and oppress us throughout our lives,” said Lynn in a statement, “whether that’s in relationships, or just in general by way of our rank and positioning in the world. I have been caged and shackled to my experiences in the world over the years, and I am in an ongoing process to free myself. We set out to make a scary, psycho-sexual nightmare about that experience. On the surface, it’s about a man who drugs and kidnaps me, ties me up in an RV that is completely lined with black trash bags, drives me into the middle of the woods and puts me in a cage. You know… Happy Halloween!”

Behind The Scenes of Logan Lynn's New Video - Tramp Stamps and Birthmarks - 2013 Hippodrome Media - Logan Lynn Music

It’s Halloween tomorrow and my new video “Tramp Stamps and Birthmarks” premiers tonight at Midnight, but you can watch it here first! This is the title cut from my record by the same name and is the 4th and final single from that album. The song is about power and control and being shackled to my experience in the world, so we tried to portray that by way of this psycho-sexual short film.

I shot the video in Portland with Hippodrome Films and I am really happy with how it turned out. Thanks to the folks at Hippodrome for taking such good care of me (and my song).

Logan Lynn The Living End Mash Up Video By Dandy Jon (2013)

Every so often people send me stuff that they’ve created with my songs on their own, and I always find it moving when something of mine has spoken to someone else somehow.

This week I received a video from an artist named Dandy Jon who is also a fan. Dude made a music video of clips from Greg Araki‘s film “The Living End” set to my song “Things Are Looking Up” (the opening track from my 2010 record “I Killed Tomorrow Yesterday“) and holy shit. It’s awesome.

Logan Lynn Summer Tour Stories, Parts 1 and 2: San Francisco and Los Angeles! (PHOTOS)

Logan Lynn LIVE at Beatbox in San Francisco (2013)

I’m back in Portland for a few days midway through our summer tour and figured I would tell you things about the first leg of shows!

The tour kicked-off in San Francisco at Beatbox on Friday night and was great. I heard after the show that one of my all-time musical heroes Bob Mould had asked the tour organizer the day before what time I was performing and then he came to the show! So awesome.

Of course, this also means that Bob got to see me knock both of my bottles of water off of a stool and onto the stage during a song, where they began pouring out into a rat’s nest of wires surrounding me. In an act of quick-thinking, fancy footwork, I repurposed my green LaCoste face towels (which Gino and I use to keep the sweat from blinding us on stage) and used one foot to mop it up while I sang the opening of our next song. It was pretty special. Here’s to not getting publicly electrocuted on stage in SF!

Here are some photos from that show:

We’ll be in Portland on Thursday, Seattle on Sunday, and the grand finale in New York City on July 19th! See you again soon, California.
