RED CAP GARAGE & LOGAN LYNN ARE RAISING MONEY FOR PORTLAND’S Q CENTER THIS SATURDAY (8/28) AT RED CAP!

The dear, sweet, beautiful boys at Red Cap Garage in Portland have offered to donate 100% of the door proceeds from this coming Saturday night’s cover to my fundraiser for the Portland Q Center! Cool, huh? I love it when local gay establishments actually give back to the community. Red Cap Garage & Boxxes make a habit of it. It makes me feel good about giving them my money.

This fundraiser has a little over a week left in it. Come to Red Cap Garage this Saturday and you will rest easy knowing that you have done your part. If you want to do even more for Q Center (and get my new record FREE as a result) click HERE.

See you Saturday! I’m so excited just to be going out for once!!! Not performing, not doing anything but hanging out with you. Come say hi, Portland! There will be drinks, dancing, and hot gay people. In the morning you can look in the mirror and at the stranger next to you and say “I did that for charity. Good for me!” no matter how the night turns out (or how the stranger may look in the sober daylight.)

Let’s make some money for the good guys!

THE ONLY WAY TO GET LOGAN LYNN’S NEW RECORD IS TO DONATE TO PORTLAND’S Q CENTER NOW. SCOOP HERE!

LONG VERSION:

Hi again, everybody! It’s been a little over a week since I announced my plans to step away from the stage for the time being and the reaction from all of you has been really incredible. Thanks so much for all the emails and messages in the days since. It’s been reassuring to be able to so clearly see that I have not been wrong about all of you this whole time…that you totally ARE as wonderful as I like to think about you all being…that sometimes strangers care about you more than people you’ve known for years. Thank you for hearing where I’m at enough to wish me well on my journey. I’ve collected so much love from you through the past decade of my being in your ears. I’m not sure what I’ve done to deserve it but I feel so lucky to be connected with this sea of like-minded, sensitive, caring individuals all scattered across the globe…

So WHAT’S NEXT??? I think I may have figured that part out. You know how I was saying I needed to do something that matters for a little while and use my powers for good instead of just to be a famous singing douchebag who complains about how horrible his life is or whatever? Well, I actually meant it and have been exploring what that looks like in the immediate future. I’ve recently been involved with Portland’s Q Center (Oregon’s ONLY LGBTQ Community Center) and have been feeling personally drawn to that place for months. Ever since I stepped foot in the door and met Kendall Clawson (the center’s Executive Director) it’s been clear that she is on a mission to make something really big happen for not just the various queer communities in Oregon but the nation as well. Big things are happening out of that place and I want to be on the frontline of the change. I honestly don’t give a shit about pop music at the moment but I do care passionately about human rights and making things safe for the gay community at large, the community I Read the rest of this entry »

I’M GETTING A LOT OF “WHY Q CENTER? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? WHY AM I DONATING?” EMAILS SO HERE’S THE ANSWER…

In response to the post on my site about my going to work full time for Q Center and how the only way to get my new record is by donating directly to the center I have been getting tons of emails asking not only what the hell I’m doing but why the hell I’m doing it. I responded to one such wall post on my Facebook music page and figured it made enough sense to post for the rest of you. Hopefully this explains it. If not, please feel free to hit me up directly. I’d love to chat with you further about Q Center and my involvement there anytime.

To begin with, my motivation is deeply personal. As an out queer person growing up in the Midwest in the 90’s there were no safe places for me to be myself. To me, that is what the Q Center is. It’s a place where ALL queer people can be themselves openly without the fear of judgment or danger. I recently became involved after some of my friends were gay bashed in Portland during the Rose Festival. If you care to read more about my history leading up to this point and what has been the primary motivator for this you can check out this blog post I wrote just after said bashings happened HERE.

Q Center is at the forefront of not only local change for the LGBTQ community, but statewide and national change. It is the only community center of its type in Oregon. I recently was particularly drawn to Kendall Clawson (the Executive Director of the center) after receiving THIS NOTE in a Q Center email. After I heard that I was like “This lady is doing exactly what I am wanting to do only instead of just being emotional and writing about her feelings (which is what I’ve been doing for the past 10 years) she follows it up with actually CHANGING things for our community at large.” I felt compelled to reach out to her to let her know where I was with wanting to change my everyday life and get involved with something I am passionate about and it all just kinda clicked.

I believe in Kendall’s cause and the work the center does. I’m raising money for them so I can come on board full time as assistant to the Director and office everyman from Sept. 1st – Jan. 1st, then see where we’re at with the whole thing. They need me there NOW, not in 4 months when the fiscal year ends. That is why I am raising this money. I figured I could either sell the record myself and put the money into the center or give people the opportunity to get involved with my next steps themselves, have a tax deduction, and get the new songs all at the same time. I could really use your help making this happen. Please share the following link with friends: https://loganlynnmusic.com/2010/08/savingtheworldonequeeratatime/ and, of course, donate whatever you can. The more money I raise for Q Center before September 1st the more people we can help. Let me know if you have any questions.
