THE PORTLAND MERCURY PICKS LOGAN LYNN & THE GENTRY’S BLOW PONY “BASH BACK” SHOW THIS WEEKEND AS THEIR CHOICE FOR THE NUMBER ONE PARTY TO BE AT FOR PDX PRIDE!

This week’s issue of The Portland Mercury is called “Secrets of Portland’s Queer Underground” and just hit stands today. On page 19 for their 2010 Top 10 Pride Picks they picked this Saturday’s Blow Pony “Bash Back” show (which I’m performing at with The Gentry) as their number one choice and had some really nice stuff to say about me!!!

For the local folks, go pick up a copy. Our show is on pages 19, 23, 27, & 33. For the rest of you, read what they had to say below the photo of the fag in the raccoon hat.

From “The Portland Mercury“: (6/17/2010 Issue)

‘2010 TOP 10 PRIDE PICKS’

1. Blow Pony Bash Back!

This is some sick-ass shit right here. Crazy-like electro-emo music meets tranny drag performance art meets boys and bears and ladyboys and ladies in a punch-drunk heap of heaving bodies. This is, quite simply, where you need to be Saturday night of Pride weekend, and here’s why: The infamous queer crazy party Blow Pony is basically exploding a glitter bomb inside Rotture for their “Bash Back” bash and second annual indoor/outdoor queer social, headlined by that scruffy-sexy angst-pop god Logan Lynn & The Gentry. Some of the other starlets stopping by: dragfucker Kaj-Anne Pepper and dance poppers Boy Joy, with Jer Ber Jones and Artemis Chase as your ringleaders for the night. This is the Pride party to end all Pride parties.

-Stephen Marc Beaudoin, The Portland Mercury

Blow Pony “Bash Back”: Rotture, 315 SE 3rd, Sat June 19th, 9pm, $5.

IN ADDITION TO THIS…

The Portland Mercury picked me as their “Band Of The Week” this week. You can check it out online HERE or via the photo below. Pretty fun, right?

LOGAN LYNN & THE GENTRY PDX SHOW PREVIEWED BY THE PORTLAND MERCURY TODAY!

The Portland Mercury thinks you should come tonight, too. Listen up! You can check out what they had to say about Pride NW, my Summer tour with The Gentry and our kick-off show tonight HERE or just keep reading below.

From The Portland Mercury: (5/27/2010)

“Portland Pride 2010 Entertainment Is, Umm, Announced — Logan Lynn + The Gentry — Not officially part of the Portland Pride music line-up, but officially one of the badassest shows happening for Pride weekend.

So, Pride Northwest has announced its headlining entertainment for the ever-popular Portland Pride Waterfront Festival festivities, June 19 and 20. Here are some of the names: Amber, Angie Evans, The Cliks, God-des & She, Yehonathan. Oh yeah. And Blake Lewis, of course.

I’ve got to be frank, I just personally find little of that line-up to be compelling. But that’s just me! You know how I roll [insert musical snobbish snorting noise here]. Pride Northwest has every right to waste spend its money on whatever kind of entertainment its little heart desires.

But! There’s an upside to this. Because the mainstage offerings from Pride Northwest are so downright yawnsville, we here at Portland Mercury Queer Issue HQ are happy to recommend a boatload of alternative Pride weekend shows and queer performances, stacked with tons of great local talent, and we’ll be doing just that in the weeks leading up to Pride weekend.

Here’s an early tip: one of my fave Pride weekend shows this year features the ascendant electro-emo stylings of Logan Lynn + The Gentry, Saturday June 19 as part of a special Pride weekend Blow Pony showcase, which is also rumored to include the likes of Atole, Jer Ber Jones and Kaj-anne Pepper, among lots of other rad peoples. I should mention, btw, that Lynn kicks off his Northwest tour, featuring a spate of Pride fest stops (Salem Pride! Capital Pride! The Cuff Block Party in Seattle for Seattle Pride!), TONIGHT at the Doug Fir, 9 pm onward. Lynn’s thrown a couple of unreleased raw tracks from his new album my way for a listen, and boys and girls this kid is up to interesting stuff.”
